Indoor Winter Walking

Winter walking for LaBrae School District residents will begin Nov.4 –April 16.  Bascom Elementary school will be available on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 4pm to 7pm for those wishing to participate in indoor walking during the winter months.  This is for district residents only.  All participants walk at their own risk.  The district assumes no liability for any illness or injury to anyone who chooses to walk.  Walkers must be over the age of 18. There are to be no unaccompanied minors in the building.  Walkers are to limit themselves to the hall ways only.  The building is only open when school is in session.  There is no building entry during scheduled breaks or calamity days.

The attached report provides data on the types of bullying that occurred at LaBrae Local Schools during the 2013-2014 school year.  Information is also provided on the types of administrative action taken for various incidents.

Title I survey for Parents of Elementary, Intermediate and Middle School students

Title I school wide is a federal program designed to help all students reach high academic standards.  The purpose of this questionnaire is to gather information on how well the school communicates with parents.  Please take a few minutes to respond to the questions below.  Your feedback will be used to improve parent communication and parent involvement activities at the school.  Suggestions on how we can better help students at school and at home are welcome.  Thank you in advance for providing your input.

Immunizations

Parents, letters have been mailed to all students identified has not having complete immunization documentation on file. If you receive a letter please take time over the summer to have your child’s updated shot record faxed to the school. Additionally, all students entering 7th grade must have a Tdap booster on file. Information was given to all sixth grade students to bring home. All shot records must be on file by September 30, 2014.

Ohio Department of Health requirements may be viewed at www.odh.oh.gov. Immunizations are available at the Trumbull County Health Department. To schedule an appointment, or check clinic dates, call 330-675-2590. You may also check their website for information www.tcbh.org.

Parent Roadmaps to Understanding the Third Grade Reading Guarantee

2014-2015 Kindergarten Registration

Kindergarten Registration will be held on Thursday, March 20, 2014 from 9:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. and then from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Bascom Elementary School.  Child must be 5 years old by August 1, 2014.  The following documents are needed at the time of registration:

  • Birth Certificate
  • Social Security Card
  • Shot Record
  • 2 Recent Proofs of Residency (examples: utility bill, pay stub, property taxes, car insurance, and/or Ohio Job and Family Service paperwork)  
  • Custody Papers (if applicable)

LaBrae Acceleration Information

LaBrae Local Schools does provide opportunities for families to have their child, where appropriate, to be given consideration for academic acceleration.  Parents should read the District policy on acceleration.  Parents can access the policy through the following link:  LaBrae Board of Education Policies.  Once you are redirected to the policies, click on the policy section 5000 Students.  Find policy 5410: Promotion, Acceleration and Retention. 

Additionally, parents should read the acceleration  notice.  Should a parent like to make a referral, the parent can print off the referral form located on the District website and submit it to the building principal for consideration.
